Whole Foods is offering tours for its customers to help them save money.
Now that the first store in Hawaii has been open for 10 months, it’s time to take a look at what the store really has to offer. Whole Foods actually offers a weekly value tour, taking visitors through the store’s aisles and pointing out how to save money.

Elyse Ditzel leads the tours at 1 p.m. every Saturday at the Kahala Mall store, drawing an average of 20 to 30 customers, many of whom are walking into the store for the first time.

There are times of good and bad, moments of success and failure, and seconds of joy and tear. But for this person, focus and determination kept her sight of success in tact.
Only a few mentors and Harvard officials knew her background. She never wanted other students to know her secret, not until her plane left for the East Coast hours after her graduation Friday evening.
As long as she can remember, Williams has floated from shelters to motels to armories along the West Coast with her mother. She has attended 12 schools in 12 years; lived out of garbage bags among pimps, prostitutes and drug dealers. Every morning, she made sure she didn’t smell or look disheveled.
On the streets, she learned how to hunt for a meal, plot the next bus route and help choose a secure place to sleep, survival skills she applied to her education.
A story to ponder… Read here.

If you are looking for a good and healthy Japanese soba restaurant in Hawaii, there is a place along South King Street after you pass Punahou Street in town (Honolulu) on your left side. Inaba Restaurant serves hot and cold sobas as well as crispy tempuras.

What surprised me the most was the inside of the restaurant which resembled very much like Japan – small tables and chairs as well as modern ambiance. It’s totally different if you were outside of the restaurant. Remember the quote, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”? Well that’s exactly what this restaurant is. The food was more than ordinary.

The variety of lunch specials ranged from $8.99 – $12.99 which is quite reasonable for the quality and amount you get. This lunch special was a cold soba and tempura combination.

This was tenju and hot soba combination. The tempura was really crispy and delicious. See the variety – 2 shrimps, long bean, carrot, egg plant and pumpkin. If you want something warm, this special is great to help you warm up. The restaurant is open everyday for lunch and dinner. Parking can get crowded so anticipate it. Definitely a place to check it out for lunchtime. Cold or hot, any combo would work.
