It has been ages (years) since I met Uncle Bob this morning at Pops. As usual, he had the brown colored longboard and his classic “2 hands on the back” surfing style. We talked for a while about the past years and at this time he is spending more time taking care of his father who is ill. Uncle Bob has been one of my instrumental person in my life as he taught me many lessons in terms of lining up correctly at the surf spots in Pops, Paradise, and Threes and his few secret advices. Additionally, there were the many generous waves he gave me even though he had the perfect line up. Physically, he has aged somewhat with more white hairs and the overgrown eyebrows but the same heart of surfing. Overall, he was the Uncle Bob who I met in the college years a while back ago.
The 3-day weekend was a perfect delight to surf even though the waves have gotten smaller to almost flat today. I surfed at Pops for a while and later moved to Threes. This is a nice spot to surf when the winds are not too strong. Summer’s 2-3 ft sets are incredible!
